Bronze

Discover the timeless craftsmanship behind Okhli's Bronze utensils, where tradition meets durability. The most common bronze ratio used in our utensils is 78% copper and 22% tin, offering the perfect balance of strength and style. Bronze also known as “Kansa”, an ancient alloy of copper and tin, is created by heating it to 400-700°C, then moulding and polishing them into elegant shapes. The name "Kansa" originates from the Sanskrit word "Kamsa," meaning copper, and it was first mentioned in the Rig Veda, a sacred Hindu text.

Known as "Bell Metal" for its resonant sound, Bronze is highly resistant to corrosion and non-toxic, making it ideal for kitchen use.

Handcrafted by Indian artisans, our Bronze serveware are the result of centuries-old hand-beating techniques that produce high-quality, long-lasting items. From Bronze plates to ladles, our expertly made products are celebrated for their beauty and functionality, making them a cherished choice for modern kitchens.

Brass

Brass, a classic alloy of copper and zinc, boasts a warm, golden hue and has been cherished for centuries. In India, brass utensils hold significant cultural and religious value, often gracing festive occasions, weddings, and rituals.

Brass utensils are more than just kitchen tools; they’re a link to India’s historical and cultural traditions. With origins tracing back to the Indus Valley Civilisation, these pieces have been integral to Ayurvedic cooking, believed to enhance the health benefits of foods and spices. Copper

Copper cookware boasts a rich history in Indian civilisation, celebrated for its numerous benefits and cultural significance. Dating back thousands of years, copper has been integral to traditional Indian cooking, deeply rooted in Ayurvedic practices. Ayurveda recognised copper's antimicrobial properties and its positive effects on health, recommending its use for both cooking and storing water.

Copper's exceptional thermal conductivity allows for even heat distribution, crucial for many cuisines, where precise temperature control and spice combinations are essential. Its natural antimicrobial qualities also help preserve food and reduce contamination.

Beyond its practical benefits, copper cookware has played a significant role in cultural and religious rituals. Often used during festive occasions and ceremonies, copper vessels symbolise purity and tradition. The craftsmanship behind copper utensils is both functional and artistic, with skilled artisans creating intricate designs that make these pieces not just tools, but cherished symbols of status and heritage.

At Okhli, we honour this legacy with our exquisite range of copper drinkware, blending timeless tradition with modern elegance.
